Laser Therapy Kelowna

Laser therapy is painless, noninvasive, comfortable and fast. An average care session takes between four to six minutes. There are no side effects, other than one: quicker, more efficient healing of damaged tissue.

When you come in for a laser appointment, different wavelengths of high frequency energy will be directed toward the problem area. This energy stimulates vital cellular processes to encourage rapid healing. Increased blood flow results, with greater oxygenation to inflamed tissue.

We believe that laser therapy is effective for both acute and chronic issues. It helps to decrease swelling and muscle spasm, stiffness and pain through the creation of an optimal healing environment.

Conditions Addressed With Laser Therapy

Here are some of the many conditions that laser therapy can successfully address:

  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Epicondylitis
  • Tennis Elbow
  • Ligament Sprains
  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Muscle Strains
  • Sports Injuries
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • Post-surgical issues (hip or knee replacement, shoulder surgery)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Osteoarthritis

Recover From Injury Twice As Fast

It’s common for avid golfers to sustain pain and injury from the unnatural posturing of a golf swing. When an injury takes place, inflammation sets in. It often can take three weeks or more before golfers can return to playing their beloved game.

When laser therapy is introduced into the healing mix, golfers are usually back out on the course in as little as a week. Our specific care helps inflammation to quickly lessen. This occurs because of increased blood flow to the area, accompanied by healing nutrients. Tissue lengthens and rapid healing has a chance to take place. Athletes love laser therapy!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Laser Therapy be used in conjunction with other treatments?

Yes, laser therapy is often used with other forms of treatment, including chiropractic.

Does it hurt? What does a treatment feel like?

You might feel a mild, soothing warmth, or tingling. Areas of pain or inflammation may be sensitive briefly before pain reduction. But the procedure isn’t painful.

Are there any side effects or associated risks?

Laser has been used for more than two decades and shows very few side effects. Occasionally some old injuries or pain syndromes may feel aggravated for a few days, as the healing response is more active after treatment.

How often should a patient receive laser therapy?

This will dependent on your injury and will be discussed with you prior to treatment by your doctor.

How many laser therapy treatments does it take?

This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions 4 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 6 to 12 (or more) treatments. Your doctor will discuss your care plan and even a maintenance program if needed.

How long before results are felt from laser therapy?

You typically will feel pain reduction after the very first treatment. Sometimes you will not feel improvement for a number of treatments, based on your injury. This does not mean that the condition is not improving. Each treatment is cumulative, and results are often felt after a few sessions.
